Facilities Local to Richmond, VA

Outpatient Facilities

FIG TREE THERAPY They are a Christian-based therapy office that specializes in EMDR. (Read my story with EMDR here.) You can totally opt out of any religious discussion. They are not pushy about it at all, but if you want to include that in your therapy, you can. They are located in the Arboretum.

OLD TOWNE COUNSELING They are located in Mechanicsville, Virginia, and offer a wide range of mental health services.

COMMONWEALTH COUNSELING They have four locations all over the Metro-Richmond area. They offer a variety of services for children, adults, and seniors. (Side note: Why are seniors in a separate category from other adults?)

THRIVEWORKS This place covers a myriad of services, and had locations all over the United States. They have been featured in numerous publications, such as The Washington Post and The New York Times, and on CNN, ABC, and NBC.

CHRISTIAN COUNSELING ASSOCIATES, INC. There are locations in Richmond, Farmville, and Powhatan. They also are a Christian-based therapy office (no opt-out option that I am aware of). They offer an amazing amount of services, and incorporate physical fitness into some of their programs. They do offer discounted rates with some of their counselors.

Inpatient Facilities

NELSON CLINIC at VCU Health. They actually offer both inpatient and outpatient services. They also have a program at the Children’s Hospital for young people.

TUCKER’S PAVILION at HCA Virginia Chippenham Hospital. This seems to be the more well-known place in the Richmond area. They offer inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. The emergency department in the main part of the hospital has a mental health protocol already in place.

Online Services

OPEN PATH PSYCHOTHERAPY COLLECTIVE This is a website that is designed to find a therapist near you at a discounted rate. They have been featured in Allure, Lifehacker, Huff Post, and NBC News.

PSYCHOLOGY TODAY This is an additional website to assist you in finding a therapist near you. It is also a great resource to keep yourself current on everything going on in the mental health world.
